Gingerbread House Competition at the Boston Christmas Festival


Artisan Promotions, the largest craft festival producer in New England, have been clients of CM Communications for over 20 years, relying upon the agency’s PR, branding, and marketing counsel to sell out the Boston Christmas Festival at the Seaport World Trade Center. This large scale crafts festival, with over 300 exhibitors and a popular Gingerbread House competition, draws close to 40,000 visitors over three days. In 2012, as social media networks emerged as powerful marketing tools, CM Social’s David Ginsburg joined the account team and to build out and execute a robust social marketing strategy that integrated seamlessly with the existing marketing and PR campaigns.

Through a variety of social engagement tactics including ticket giveaways, content features (such as artisan photo galleries, Gingerbread House photo galleries, and beneficiary information), vendor highlights, crafting how-to tips, and targeted blogger outreach plus Facebook advertising, the Boston Christmas Festival has grown into a community of more than 15,000 enthusiastic, active Facebook fans. Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Google+ are also a part of the program, extending awareness, driving website traffic, and resulting in record-breaking crowds at the ticket booth.
